We are a Registered Charity based in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, working for the Tamils affected by the war in Sri Lanka
Charity Number: 1218521
Tamil union of Hertfordshire was formed in 1983 following the ethnic violence in Sri Lanka that resulted in horrendous loss of Tamil lives and displaced many others to countries around the world. The association supports those affected by the violence and the war that followed, by raising funds through events like annual barbeques, food festival, religious celebrations, cultural shows, and help the Tamils of Sri Lanka to rebuild their lives.
We are the parent body of the Herts Tamil School Trust teaching Tamil language and cultural interests such as music, dancing and musical instruments.
NEW: We are a Registered Charity
The Tamil Union of Herts received confirmation from the Charity Commission, that we meet the requirements for a fully registered charity. Our associayion has now been entered onto the Register of Charitie,s with the Charity Number:1218521.
Forty-three years after the founding of TUH, our continuous hard work and willingness to embrace challenges to achieve this milestone has finally paid off. Our efforts have been rewarded by the recognition that has been granted to us. We can now begin to make use of the benefits of being a Registed Charity
We thank all the committee members for the dedication and the hard work in achieving this and the unwavering support of the members.
